Black, 75, of 700 Swallow St., Berlin, and Clewiston, Fla., died Feb. 12, 1996, at his home in Clewiston. Born Jan. 8, 1921, in Fulton County, son of Charles M. and Edna (McClain) Black. Preceded in death by parents, one sister and four brothers. Survived by his wife, the former Etta Pearl Hinton, and five sons: Donald B., married to the former Marie Rudy, St. Charles, Mo.; Joseph C., married to the former Gloria Miller, Shanksville; Garen C., married to the former Bobbie Morgart, Berlin RD 1; James L., married to the former Jane Krause, and Brian J., married to the former Teresa Deem, both of Berlin RD 3. Also survived by 12 grandchildren: Marcy, Amy, Daniel, David, Travis, Jamie, Garick, Derrike and Patrick Black; and Jessica, Janna and Troy Glotfelty; also one great-grandson, Drew Glotfelty; one brother, Wayne D., of Spring Hill, Fla., formerly of Rockwood, and two sisters: Silva Shaw of Everett and Leta Feight of Waterfall, Fulton County. Death terminates a marriage of 49 years. Veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps. A retired superintendent of Scurfield Coal Co. for 30 years. Avid hunter and fisherman. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Sherman Berkey officiating.
