Black, widow of the late T. W. Black, was found dead in bed Saturday morning, October 31st, from a heart attack. She had been in poor health for some years, suffering from heart disorder. She was born in Confluence June 31, 1862, and was aged 69 years, 4 months. She was a daughter of the late John and Sophia Flanigan, pioneer residents of Confluence, and was a lifelong resident of Confluence. She was married when young to Thomas William Black, a partner in A. G. Black Sons Co. Department Store, who died about 14 years ago. She was a lifelong member of the Confluence Methodist Episcopal Church and organizations affiliated with the church. She was a sincere Christian and a kind and loving mother, and leaves many friends to mourn her loss. She is survived by one son, Charles Black, with whom she made her home, and two granddaughters. One son, A. G. Black, Jr., died six years ago. Surviving also are three brothers, Charles N. Flanigan, Confluence; Frank Flanigan, Champaign, Ill.; and Albert D. Flanigan, Wheaton, Ill. One sister, Miss Mary Flanigan, of Decatur, Ill., also survives. Funeral services were held in the family home at 2 p.m., Monday, with Rev. W. L. Morgan of the Confluence M. E. Church officiating. Interment in Addison Cemetery. C. B. Humbert was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Meyersdale Republican, November 5, 1931
