His death was caused by the infirmities of old age, and he was Salisbury's oldest male citizen. It can also be truthfully said that he was as highly esteemed as any citizen the town ever had. He was a son of the late Alexander and Sarah Durst Blocher, and is survived by his wife, Sarah Meese Blocher, and these children: Edith, wife of Jacob Robinson of Salisbury, and Ernest E. Blocher, of Somerset. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Blocher was for many years a stationary engineer, but retired fifteen years ago. He was a faithful member of the Church of the Brethren for many years. Funeral services today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. conducted by his pastor, Rev. A. Jay Replogle. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas. Meyersdale Republican, May 18, 1944
