The cause of her death was pulmonary sclerosis. Mrs. Blocher had been living in the hospital since about a year after the death of her husband in 1944. She was born on February 23, 1867, in Garrett County, Md., a daughter of Samuel G. and Katherine (Beal) Meese, and was one of a family of 16 children, of whom only one now remains. She was married to Albert Blocher on January 17, 1886, and enjoyed 58 years of wedded life with him until his passing in 1944. She was a member of the Salisbury Church of the Brethren for more than 60 years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edith Robinson of Salisbury; one son, Ernest Blocher, Somerset; one sister, Mrs. Nannie Knepp, Salisbury, R.D. 1, and by a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Thomas Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25, her pastor, Rev. A. Jay Replogle officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas. Meyersdale Republican, February 26, 1948
