Born June 25, 1920, in Jenner Crossroads, daughter of George F. and Mary Naomi (Shaulis) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 50 years, William C., March 15, 1993; infant grandchildren, Sarah and David Blough; sister, Lillian Friedline and brothers, Dwight, David and Nevin Shaffer. Survived by children, William D., married to the former Dorothy Jane Hoover, Boswell RD, Dianna Jane, married to Terry L. Stevens, Raleigh, N.C. and James R., Boswell RD; grandchildren, John W., Matthew and Mark Blough and Rebecca and Amy Stevens; and sister, Myra Shaffer, Somerset. A 1938 graduate of the former Boswell High School. Along with her husband, she helped operate the family dairy farm for many years. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown and the former St. James Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Friends also received from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Laurel Trinity Church. The Rev. Jacquelyn S. Ahern and the Rev. Wes Yoder officiating. Interment, St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. James Cemetery Association, c/o Robert Blough, 253 Green Bridge Road, Boswell, Pa. 15531.
