Blough, 84, Penn Ave., Boswell RD died Aug. 5, 1999 at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born April 26, 1915 in Jerome, son of Newton A. and Nettie F. (Miller) Blough. Preceded in death by parents, brothers William C. and Newton A. Jr., sisters Catharine B. Stutzman, Florence Meyers and Margaret McDonald. Survived by wife of 59 years, the former Amy K. Shaffer; children: Carolyn B., married to Leonard A. Duffy, Hinesburg, Vt., Marilyn A. Blough, Huntington, Vt., Robert J Blough II, married to former Mary T. Ilg, Boswell RD, and Kay F. Blough, married to Benjamin M. Weller, Huntington, N.Y.; grandchildren, R. Brennan and Cara E. Duffy, Andrea C. Blough, and fiance Jude C. Clapper, Margaret L. and Stephanie K. Blough, Kathryn E. and Olivia S. Weller, brother of Lucille H., married to Robert E. Miller, Johnstown, Mildred R., married to Wilbur R. Zimmerman, of Waterford, Ellen, married to David Miltenberger, Johnstown, and Gary C., married to former Jayni Saylor, Marshall, Minn. Brother-in-law of Harrold N. McDonald, Pittsburgh, Robert Meyers, Akron, Ohio and Mary Jane Blough, Davidsville. Also survived by step-mother Elizabeth B. Blough of Jerome. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown: China-Burma-India Veterans Assoc., the Roof Garden Basha, where he served as commander for 12 years and was chairman of the national memorial committee and commander of Pa. state CBIVA for two years; Somerset Lodge #358, F.&A.M.; Jaffa Mosque, Altoona; Boswell Area Historical Society; Pa. Assoc. of School Retirees; Pa. Agricultural Teachers Assoc. and St. James Cemetery Assoc. Graduate of the former Lock Haven State Teachers' College and Penn State University, where he received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. He then earned his master's degree in education at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a vocational agricultural teacher for Conemaugh Township Area High School and an elementary teacher for the former J.B.J. School District. Past school board director for North Star School District. Former sales representative for A. O. Smith Harvester. Army officer of World War II having served in the China-Burma-India Theatre of Operations. Along with the cooperation of the Roof Garden Basha, he placed a living tree and monument as a memorial for the CBIVA at Arlington National Cemetery. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Main St., Boswell. Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Laurel Trinity Church. there will be no viewing at the church. Rev. William G. Triebe officiating. Interment St. James Cemetery.
