Blucas, 84, of Shaffer's Countryside Assisted Living, Friedens, formerly of Ralphton, died Sept. 4, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 27, 1920, in Ralphton, son of Peter M. and Katherine C. (Kandelski) Blucas. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 49 years, the former Helen R. Eutin on March 20, 1996; sisters Victoria, Josephine Meholic and Catherine Nedrow; and brothers Stanley, Staff Sgt. Michael, killed in action during World War II, Joseph, John and Henry. Survived by son, Michael E. Sr., married to Jo Ann Kaltenbaugh, Boswell; grandsons, Michael E. Jr. and Dennis J.; great-grandson, Luke Hostetler; good friend Rosie; sisters, Mary Cook, Howe, Mich.; Stella Bauerle, Indianapolis, Ind., and Frances Zellam, Hooversville; and brothers, Walter, Boswell, and Ted, Levittown. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish, Boswell, Post 461 American Legion and the UMWA. He was a life-member of Chapter 16 DAV and the Commander's Club. A decorated Army veteran of World War II and retired employee of Island Creek Coal Company with 37 years service in area mines. Avid fisherman and mushroom hunter. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta. The Rev. Father Daniel G. Fink OFM Conv. celebrant. Committal at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Ralphton.
