Boback, 93, Boswell, formerly of Sidman, died unexpectedly June 28, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born May 25, 1915, in James City, son of Anthony and Mary (Koronzak) Boback. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 66 years, the former Ann J. Kentula on Nov. 4, 2004; infant son, Adam; brothers, Joseph and Anthony; and sisters, Connie Boback and Mary Smith. Survived by daughter, Patricia, married to David Aikey, Johnstown; son, Ronald, Boswell, and his fiancˇe, Shelly Helsel; grandchildren, Christine, married to J. Samuel Gorham IV, Leigh Ann, married to John Hopkins, Laura Aikey, Karen, married to Michael Nelson, and Misty Thompson; nine great-grandchildren; companion, Mildred Cannonie, Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Agnes Boback, Mentor, Ohio, Helen Hudson, South Fork, Verna, married to James Rosey, Beaverdale; and pet dog, Buddy. Member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Jerome, UMWA, South Fork Aerie 1585 FOE and the Jenner Rod & Gun Club. He worked for over 59 years in local coal mines as a miner, foreman, superintendent and Pennsylvania state inspector until his retirement in 1980 when he moved to Boswell. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where Parastas will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Panachida will be held at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.
