OLIVE BOCKES

  Mrs. Olive (Haer) Bockes, 57, wife of Daniel W. Bockes, died at her home in 
Garrett at 8:30, Thursday morning, December 19, after a lingering illness for 
more than five years.  Death was due to a paralytic stroke which Mrs. Bockes 
suffered ten days ago.
  She was born in Summit Township, April 6, 1889, a daughter of the late 
Christian and Elizabeth (Burkholder) Haer.  Besides her husband she is survived 
by two children - a daughter, Leora, at home, and a son, Henry Bockes of Garrett 
- four children, Shirley, Betty, Jeanne and Roger Bockes; two brothers, Noah 
Haer and George Haer, Garrett R.D., and one sister, Mrs. Mary Haer Grove of 
Washington, Pa.
  Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in the Mt. Tabor 
Lutheran Church, Garrett.  Rev. H. K. Hilner officiated.  Interment was made in 
the Highland Cemetery, under the direction of H. R. Konhaus, Meyersdale 
mortician.
  Mr. and Mrs. Bockes were married 35 years ago.
