Boger, aged 77 years, a prominent farmer of Hay's Mills, Brothersvalley, Township, was found dead in his barn Tuesday afternoon, having apparently died of apoplexy an hour or so before the finding of his dead body. His health had been failing for several years, but in spite of feebleness he kept stirring around and doing chores about his home. After dinner on Tuesday he had gone to his pig pen where he discovered a sow that had given birth to a litter of pigs, in the act of killing her offspring. She had killed all but one, which Mr. Boger rescued. He then went to the barn, apparently to get some straw to make a bed for the little pig, and while so engaged was stricken and died. Mr. Boger was an active farmer for many years and also dealt in agricultural implements. He and Miss Melissa Poorbaugh were married in June, 1879. He is survived by his wife and these children: Mrs. Elsie M. Miller, of Johnstown; Mrs. Alda Kreitzberg, of Akron, O.; Mrs. Vera Coder, of England; Baden Boger, of Guysville, O., and Homer Boger, of Hay's Mills. Mr. Boger is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Wilfred, and a daughter, Mrs. Harry Brant, both preceded him to the grave. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mt. Zion (Hay's) Reformed Church, by Rev. F. D. Witmer. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Undertakers J. N. Johnson & Son, of Berlin, prepared the body for burial. Meyersdale Republican, April 9, 1931
