Boland, 71, of Somerset RD 6, died Jan. 12 at his residence. Born April 8, 1917 in Wilmore, son of the late John and Theresa (Donnelly) Boland. Also preceded in death by twin grandsons, Jason and Michael Boland and a granddaughter, Katie Marie Boland, and a brother, Edward. Survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Kull and these children: Mrs. Floyd (Jeannie) DePhillips, Westlake, Ohio; Mrs. Dennis (Margaret) Caola of Somerset; Ray Michael married to former Jackalyn Hagins, Blairsville; and Miss Mary Boland, Washington D.C.; 8 grandchildren. Brother of: Norbert, New Castle; Miss Kathleen Boland, Delmont; Mrs. Margaret Connelly, Churchill; Mrs. Tony (Marie) Smith, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and Floyd, Highland, Mich. Member of St. Peters Catholic Church; 1935 graduate of Johnstown High School; Veteran U.S. Air Force World War II; a railroad engineer for 38 years. He retired in 1973 from the Conemaugh & Elk-Lick Railroad. Past president of U.S. Steel Workers Local #3176. He was Jefferson Township supervisor. Former owner of the Laurel Mt. Inn and Boland's Soft Freeze in Bakersville. Also very active in the Democratic party. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where Wake Service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli, Celebrant. Interment, Bakersville Cemetery.
