Bonig, 65, of 348 Bedford Street, died May 31, 1980 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was born in Cumberland, Md. and was a son of the late Charles A. Bonig and Anna M. (Schiller) Bonig. He was a retired custodian for the Allegheny County Board of Education and had worked at the West Side School. He also was a former employee of Rosembaum's Department Store. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, United Commercial Travelers and was an Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Romana (Simpson) Bonig; two sons, Ronald C. Bonig, Columbia, Md.; Rick A. Bonig, Cumberland; a brother, Paul F. Bonig, Cumberland; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Trenary, Cumberland, and Miss Jeanette Bonig, Grantsville, Md. Friends were received at the Kight Funeral Home where services were conducted by the Rev. Vernon I. Maugle. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Lawrence Gates, Bud John, John Prendergast, Don Simpson, Dan Twigg and Mike Stakem. The Republic, June 5, 1980 [B2016]
