He had been connected with the Railway Express for some twenty-five years, but retired five years ago because of ill health. Mr. Bonig was born at Grantsville but had resided at Cumberland for a number of years. Two of his sisters still reside here, Mrs. John Zehner and Mrs. Nettie Bill. A third sister, Mrs. Minnie Peterson, resides at Rockford, Mich. This is the fourth death in their family within a period of eleven months, two brothers-in-law, Charles Bill and Frank Peterson, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Frazier, having died during that time. Mr. Bonig also leaves his wife, Mrs. Anna Schiller Bonig, three sons, Schiller C., and Charles H., Cumberland, and Paul Bonig, Monterey, Calif., three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth B. Trenary, Noami M., and Jeannette L. Bonig, all at home. Funeral services were conducted from the home Monday afternoon by Rev. Sharpe, after which the body was brought to Grantsville for interment in the family lot in the Grantsville Cemetery. The Rev. Samuel D. Sigler, pastor of the local Lutheran church, held a brief service at the cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, December 19, 1940
