Boose, aged 85, father of Judge Norman T. Boose, and one of Somerset County's best known and highly respected citizens, died Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock at his home in Somerset. Mr. Boose had been in poor health for the last three years, suffering from a complication of diseases, and was bedfast for the last eight months. John R. Boose was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Boose, and was born in Brothersvalley Township. He was educated in the public schools in that section and later moved to Milford Township where he was a farmer and held a number of minor offices of public trust. In 1900 Mr. Boose removed to Somerset and had since been a resident of the county seat. He served as clerk of the Somerset County Commissioners after coming to Somerset and in 1905 was elected to the office of Register, Recorder and Clerk of the Orphan's Court. At that time the three offices were combined into one. For a number of years he was secretary and manager of the Star Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Somerset Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary (Turner) Boose, and the following children: Judge Norman T. Boose, Attorney Budd B. Boose, Ellis C. Boose, Howard R. Boose, and Mrs. Jerome Good, all of Somerset; Oscar and Harvey Boose, both of Sunnyside, Wash., and Mrs. Harvey Walker, of Berlin. Funeral services probably will be conducted Friday afternoon at his late home, in charge of Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner, pastor of the Somerset Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Husband Cemetery.
