Born June 15, 1915, in Somerset, son of Howard Russell and Charlotte "Lottie" (Good) Boose. Preceded in death by parents and sisters Joan Boose, Nancy B. Gourley and Anna Mary Houser. Survived by wife of 50 years, the former Lillias "Buckey" Barilar; three children: Mrs. Margaret B. "Maggie" Norris, wife of Robert W. Norris of Salem, Va., Robert I. Boose II of Somerset and Ms. Mary A. Boose of Cary, N.C.; and three grandchildren: Robert W. Norris II, Robert L. Boose and Alexander C. Boose. Brother of Howard R. Boose Jr. of Arlington, Va. Brother-in-law of Dr. George P. Gourley of Somerset. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. 1933 graduate of Somerset High School. He received his B.S. degree in 1939 and law degree in 1941 from Ohio State University. He has been a member of the Somerset County Bar Association since 1941. His practice of law was interrupted by his enlistment in the U.S. Air Force in December 1941, and he served in the armed forces until August 1945, when he was separated from the service with the rank of captain. While in the service, he was pilot of a P-38 fighter aircraft and assigned to the First Fighter Group, 94th Fighter Squadron. He flew 50 combat missions in the North African Theater of operations during World War II, and later served as a test pilot at the Air Force Proving Ground Command at Eglin Field, Florida. He received the Air Medal with seven Oak Leaf Clusters, and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He practiced law, first with his uncle Budd R. Boose, and subsequently with Fike, Cascio and Boose. Honored with Joseph R. Cascio, his law partner, and the Honorable Charles H. Coffroth in 1991 by the Somerset County Bar Association to mark their 50th anniversary before the Bar. he was past commander of the American Legion; past president of the Somerset Country Club Board of Directors; past president of the Somerset Bar Association and served on the board of directors. He was an avid golfer. No viewing or visitation. memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, with the Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr. officiating.
