He was a son of Josiah and Lucretia Compton Boucher and was born in Salisbury, May 26, 1853. He was married to Rachael Jane Broadwater many years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Boucher spent the early part of their married life at New Germany, seven miles south of Grantsville, Maryland. While there, he taught school for several years and was also engaged in the lumber business and surveying. He moved to New Centerville 48 years ago and at that time he engaged in the mercantile business for 15 years, following which he became a blacksmith for the village and spent several years as an employe of the Economy Telephone Company. Mr. Boucher was considered a good husband, father and neighbor and was well liked by all his friends. He was also an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman and was an excellent wing shot, as well as an expert rifleman. He was preceded in death by one son, Roy Gex, who was drowned near Ohio Pyle, in 1911. He is survived by his wife and a son, Ernest Rusch Boucher, who is at present director of instrumental music in the Hanover public schools, and formerly held the same position in Somerset. The following brothers also survive: Arthur Boucher, a clerk at the Somerset House, Somerset; Samuel Boucher, a doctor in Barton, Maryland, and Charles, a dentist in New Kensington. The funeral was conducted in the Mills and Mickey Funeral Home at Rockwood, Monday afternoon, Jan. 26, by the Rev. Walter Berkebile of Rockwood. Interment in the Middlecreek cemetery.
