Bowers, 59, of Corriganville, Md., died Jan. 23, 1974, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been admitted Jan. 22. Born Aug. 1, 1914, in Mt. Savage, Md., he was a son of the late Colin C. and Alice Loretta (Lynch) Bowers. He was currently serving as president of Corriganville Volunteer Fire Company, was a retired construction worker, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics of Mt. Savage, also of Engineers Local 37 B and of St. John's United Church of Christ in Corriganville. Surviving are his wife, the former Wanda Walters; a daughter, Miss Barbara May Bowers, at home; three brothers, Colin M. Bowers, Herndon, Va.; Joseph G. Bowers, New York City; and Charles E. Bowers, Rawlings, Md.; and four sisters, Mrs. Loretta Orndorff, Miss Clara Louise Bowers, Mt. Savage; Mrs. Margaret Elliott, Bedford; and Mrs. Helen Strahorn, Wheaton, Md. Funeral service was held Friday afternoon at Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, with Rev. Douglas Borko officiating. Interment in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Corriganville.
