    Vernon E. Bowers, 71, Branson, Mo., formerly of Stoystown and
  Friedens, died unexpectedly Oct. 27, 1997, in Branson.  Survived by
  his wife Ruth, two sons and families.  Also a brother and two
  sisters.  Funeral service will be held in Branson.
