George Edward Bowersox Jr., 73, West Church Street, Somerset, died Jan. 24, 1989, in his home. Born Feb. 26, 1915, in Allentown, Pa., son of the late George E. and Anna (Hankey) Bowersox. Survived by his wife, the former Virginia Donaldson; 2 children: G. Edward Bowersox, III, Somerset RD 2; and Marjorie Fiebinger, Vienna, Austria; 4 grandchildren: Daniel and Marsha Bowersox of Somerset RD 2; and Dora and Friedo Fiebinger of Vienna, Austria; a sister, Anne (Bowersox) McLean of Niagara Falls and Chautauqua, N.Y.; and a brother, Glen H. Bowersox of San Francisco, Calif. He was a graduate of Leechburg High School, Gettysburg College and Gettysburg Theological Seminary. He served Lutheran parishes in Uniontown, Maryland and Salisbury, Pa. He was a retired executive director of Camp Sequanota, Jennerstown, having served 23 years. Presently, interim associate pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. He was first vice president of American Lung Association of Southern Alleghenies, past president of Western Pennsylvania American Camping Association, and past president and member of Salisbury Lions Club. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Graveside services Thursday at the convenience of the family in Salisbury Cemetery. Memorial services Thursday at 2 p.m. in trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, with Pastor James H. Meyers, Bishop Gerald Miller of the Allegheny Synod and Pastor David Fetter officiating.
