Bowersox, 76, of Friedens, went to be with his Lord Nov. 1, 2000 in Somerset. Born Oct. 14, 1924 in Porter Twp., the son of the late David C. and Florence E. (Young) Bowersox. Also preceded in death by brother Howard Bowersox. Survived by his wife, the former Ruth L. Blair and these children: Mrs. Joseph (Sharon L.) Blasko of New Centerville, Kenneth R. Bowersox, married to the former Lou Ann Lear, Ross E. Bowersox, married to the former Janie Pollock, David C. Bowersox, married to the former Lexi Friedline and Mrs. Donald (Beverly) Tirko all of Friedens; and 8 beloved grandchildren: Robin Welcher married to Nathan Focht, Matthew and Joelle Bowersox, Danielle and Ron Tirko, Tim, Becky, and Katie Bowersox. Brother of Mrs. Harold (Alfretta) Dusenberry of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Clay (Mary) Shick of May Port, Velma Shick of Brookville, and sister-in-law Alice Bowersox of Lakeview, Ore. Member of Somerset Church of the Nazarene where he was a board member and choir member, and Laurel Ridge Sportsman Club. US Army Veteran of World War II. Formerly employed by GMW Coal Company. He was an avid bowler, hunter and sportsman. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Somerset Nazarene Church with the Rev. John Buchko and Rev. Thomas Kroll officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the Nazarene Church Fellowship Hall Building Fund, 382 W. Union St., Somerset, Pa. 15501. There will be viewing at the church from 12:30 until time of service.
