Bowlin of Confluence died very suddenly at 12:30 Saturday afternoon, December 28. He was aged 73 years, 7 months and 15 days. He had been afflicted with rheumatism and heart trouble but was able to be up and about. He was over to the business portion of the town within an hour of his death. After returning home he complained of sickness. Dr. C. W. Frantz was sent for, but when he arrived Mr. Bowlin was dead. Elisha S. Bowlin was born in Addison Township, May 13, 1856. He was a son of John R. and Susannah Bowlin. He spent his younger days at the place of his birth. He married Miss Felicia Hook on April 6, 1887. She died September 4, 1924. He is survived by three children - Ralph W. Bowlin, Forest Hills, Allegheny County, Pa., Miss Susan Bowlin, a clerk in the Treasury Department, Washington, D.C., and Miss Helen Bowlin, at home - and four grandchildren. Two brothers, J. H. Bowlin of Molalla, Oregon, and Rev. Marshall Bowlin of Lexington, Ill., a retired minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, also survive. Mr. Bowlin was employed by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad for many years and most of that time held the position of foreman in the maintenance of way department. He retired on February 28, 1927. He was a member of the Methodist Church since boyhood and was a consistent Christian. He had been for many years a member of and also secretary of the official board of the Confluence M.E. Church and was also a member of the Men's Bible class of the church. He was a member of the Confluence School Board and for many years its secretary. He was also formerly a member of the Borough Council and also its secretary. He was a man of fine abilities and always scrupulously upright and honest. His demise is a loss to the community. Funeral services were held at his late home at 2 p.m., Monday, December 30, Rev. H. W. Jamison officiating. Interment was in Addison Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, January 2, 1930
