Bowman, farmer, of Summit Township, at 11 a.m., Sunday, May 3, and took away the wife and mother who had been the light of the home. Mrs. Bowman had been ill from a complication of ailments for about three months. She was aged 51 years, 6 months and 24 days, having been born in Addison Township, Oct. 9, 1879, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Orville R. Bird. Alice Bird and Peter M. Bowman were married in 1903 and lived in the Meyersdale community ever since. To Mr. and Mrs. Bowman four children were born. One died in infancy; the surviving children are: Sylvia, aged 20; Gordon, 17, and Charles, 14 years. She is also survived by her husband and the following named brothers and sisters; Charles E. and Cyrus M. Bird, Meyersdale, the well known poultrymen and farmers; Mrs. Henry Suder of Vim, Mrs. Joseph L. Tressler, Beachly Street, and Miss Malinda Bird, R.N., of the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Mrs. Bowman was a devoted wife and mother, a loving sister, a kind neighbor and faithful member of the Main Street Brethren Church which she attended regularly as long as her health permitted. Funeral services were held in the Main Street Brethren Church, at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, and were largely attended. Rev. Willis E. Ronk, pastor of the deceased, was the officiating minister. Interment was made in Union Cemetery. Funeral Director Joseph L. Tressler had charge of the burial arrangements. There were many beautiful floral tributes. Meyersdale Republican, May 7, 1931
