Born Jan. 22, 1925, in Somerset, the son of Harry Milton and Nellie (Zufall) Bowman. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Mary Margaret Townsend, who died March 7, 2003; and brother, Richard M. Bowman. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Andrew J. (Jo Ann) McGonigle, Somerset; grandson, Scott A. McGonigle, married to the former Joni Berkebile, Greenbrier, Tenn.; and great-granddaughter, Katelyn McGonigle. A 1942 graduate of Somerset High School. U.S. Army veteran of World War II and Korea. Worked for Lytle's Dry Cleaners, later the Somerset County Assessment Office and was a deputy of the Somerset Sheriff's Office where he retired. Also a member of American Legion Post 1801 and VFW Post 554 and was also on the Somerset County Housing Authority. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Roger L. Forry officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. Military graveside rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to Somerset Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 225 S.
