Mrs. Kate Hoblitzell Bowman a member of one of Meyersdale's best known families passed away on Monday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock after suffering with impaired health and general failing for several years. She was a daughter of the late J. J. Hoblitzell, and a widow of Dr. Jacob Z. Bowman. She was married to Dr. Bowman on July 9, 1889, and about five weeks after, while on their bridal tour, Dr. Bowman took sick and died. This affliction occurred nearly twenty-five years ago. Mrs. Bowman was born in Addison, Pa. Most of her early life was spent in Frostburg, Md. Since 1881, the family has resided in Meyersdale, and has been one of the best known and most prominent families for a generation. Mrs. Bowman is survived by the following brothers and sisters: W. T., J. R., and Frank W. Hoblitzell of Meyersdale, Mrs. W. S. Ravenscroft of Ridgeway, Pa., Mrs. Kennedy Price of Meyersdale, and Mrs. Hugh Ross of Woodbine, Pa. From her early years, Mrs. Bowman had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The funeral services will be held at the residence of Mrs. Price, she having been a member of her family since July 1, 1913, this (Thursday) afternoon at 4:00 o'clock. Rev. G. A. Neeld, her pastor, assisted by Rev. Dr. Truxal will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery. The following out of town relatives and friends attended the funeral: Dr. John C. Bowman, Lancaster; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ross, Woodbine, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. James H. Price, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. McCleland, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cramer, Uniontown; Mrs. G. M. Hoblitzell, L. C. Colborn, and Miss Colborn, of Somerset; Harry Horton Smith, West Hickory, Pa.; Mrs. S. A. Kendall, Washington, D. C.; George Wilson, Miss Wilson, and Mrs. John Taylor, of Frostburg, Md., and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Shaffer of Berlin. Meyersdale Commercial, Feb. 26, 1914
