Born Jan. 19, 1933, in Berlin, the son of the late Clarence and Viola (Landis) Bowman. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Sheldon. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Christina Elizabeth (Crissinger) Bowman; and four children, Rodney Bowman and Karen Metz, Meyersdale; James Bowman, Connecticut; Peggy and her husband, Charles Shuck, Virginia; and Debra and her husband, David McKenzie, Meyersdale; grandchildren, Angie and her husband, Mike Brant; Jes Bowman, Jeremy, Rebecca, and Nikki Bowman, Rachel Shuck, Jessica and her husband, Melvin Fazenbaker; and Gregory Beachy Jr.; step grandchildren, Brian, Kayla and Bradley McKenzie; great-granddaughter, Hannah Brant; and step great-grandchildren, William and Mason McKenzie. He is also survived by two brothers, Clifford Bowman, Meyersdale; and Wendell Bowman, Fairhope. Luther served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a former foreman for Penn-Line Service and was a farmer. He was a member of the Meyersdale Masonic Lodge 554, the Charles E. Kelley American Legion, Post 112, and the Hostetler Church of the Brethren. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at M. Ray Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale. A Masonic service will also be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. The service will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Arlen Longanecker officiating.
