Born May 24, 1922, in Barnsboro, a daughter of Rebecca (Moore) and William Paul Townsend Sr. Preceded in death by parents; brother William Paul Townsend Jr.; sisters, Imogene Stark and Barbara Ann Brunell. Survived by husband John Milton Bowman to whom she was married 60 years; daughter, Mrs. Andrew J. (Jo Ann) McGonigle of Somerset; grandson, Scott A. McGonigle married to the former Joni Berkebile of Greenrier, Tenn.; great-granddaughter Katelyn McGonigle; brother, Thomas R. Townsend and wife Beryl of Bradenton, Fla. and sister-in-law, Doris Townsend of Glendale, Ariz. A 1941 graduate of Somerset High School; attended Penn State University. Member of American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary. In World War II she had received the "E" Award while employed in the chemistry department of the B.F. Goodrich Co. Employed by the former DeVilbiss Co. of Somerset with 31 years of service retiring in 1984. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Dr. Arthur J. Gotjen officiating.
