Mr. Bowman had been in failing health for some time, but when he left for the hospital for treatment he did not think his illness serious. A combination of diseases resulted in his death. Mr. Bowman was born near Pine Hill in 1869, where he spent his early youth. He later went to Nebraska, where he was married, and he and his bride settled in Oregon for a number of years, and later went to California to live. At first they lived in National City, having a citrus grove and a garage, but for the last thirteen years have made their home at Lakeside, Calif. Mr. Bowman while living at Lakeside was not identified with any organizations, being a home-loving man and a very busy one with his ranch duties. His wife, however, is a member of the Community Church, and it was the pastor of that church, Dr. W. D. Vater, who was chosen to conduct the simple funeral services held in La Mesa. Entombment was at the Cypress View Mausoleum. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. L. A. Weiser of National City, Calif., Mrs. C. D. Stanton, of Pixley, Calif., Mrs. L. E. Flack, of Lakeside, Calif., and two young sons, C. C. and A. A. Bowman, at home. He is also survived by two brothers, Austin Bowman, near Bakersville, and Willis Bowman of Oregon. Three first cousins living in this vicinity also survive him, Miss Lucinda Geiger, Meyersdale, Mrs. Allan Hay, Berlin, and Benjamin Bowman, Pine Hill. Meyersdale Republican, June 23, 1932
