(Doc) Bowman, 64, of Boynton, died March 21, 1981, in Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. He was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Boynton, son of the late Milton S. and Cecelia (Garlitz) Bowman. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Engle; and three brothers: Clarence, Paul and Francis. He is survived by his wife, the former Ethel Shaulis Burke; a daughter, Mrs. Sue Lichty of Meyersdale; two grandchildren: Kathy and Patrick Lichty; three brothers: Edward and Colonel, both of Salisbury; and Grant of West Salisbury; and four sisters: Mrs. Iva Vought, Berlin; Mrs. Genevieve Shaulis of Avon Park, Fla.; Mrs. June Shoemaker, Salisbury, and Mrs. Doris D'Este of Meyersdale. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Meyersdale. He was a veteran of World War II; a member of the Salisbury American Legion and the Salisbury-Elk Lick Hunting Club. He was a retired foreman for Champion Pipe Products Co., Boynton. Friends were received at the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where services were held with the Rev. Bobby Phillips officiating.
