  ELWOOD E. BOWSER
  
    Elwood E. Bowser, 69, of Berlin RD 3, died May 2, 1981, at Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born July 11, 1911, at Oakland, Md., son of the
  late Peter Simon and Lenora (Uphold) Bowser.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna (Beeman) Bowser; a son,
  Harley; and four sisters.  He is survived by the following children: 
  Mrs. Kenneth (Phyllis Roadman, Berlin RD 4; Mrs. Nick (Ruth) Slifco,
  and Mrs. Nelson (Mary Jane) Bailey, both of Berlin RD 3; Mrs. Harold
  (Peggy) Bailey, Somerset RD 7; and Mrs. Sarah Baer of Somerset;
  Elwood Bowser Jr., Berlin; Donald, Somerset RD 2; Mrs. James (Lenora)
  Housel, Meyersdale RD 3; and Ernie of Friedens RD 1; 43 grandchildren;
  14 great-grandchildren.  He was a brother of:  Arthur, Barton, Md.;
  Don, and Lloyd, both of Swanton, Md.; Dewey, and Mrs. Mary Sander,
  both of Terra Alta, W.Va.  He was a retired farmer and miner. 
  Friends were received at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home where
  funeral services were conducted with the Rev. Donald K. Jordan
  officiating.  Interment, Listie Cemetery.
