ELMER J. BOYD

  Elmer J. Boyd, aged 73, of Berlin, died at the home of his son-in-law and 
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Zerfoss of Friedens, Thursday morning, Sept. 21st.  
He was a son of the late Chauncey and Sally (Fike) Boyd.  He was married to Ida 
Gnagey who preceded him in death by a number of years.
  Mr. Boyd, a carpenter by trade, was a resident of Berlin for more than 30 
years, coming here from Meyersdale.  He was a member of the Church of the 
Brethren.
  He is survived by the following children: Frank Boyd of Harrisburg; Capt. 
Richard Boyd, in the U.S. Air Corps in Texas; Mary, wife of Warren Armstrong of 
Berlin; Anna Ruth, wife of Leroy Zerfoss; Margaret, wife of Frank Denner, both 
of Friedens; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also these brothers 
and sisters: Frank Boyd, Berlin; Mrs. Walter Brown and Charles Boyd, both of 
Dixon, Ill., and Samuel Boyd of New Centerville.
  Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Roy S. Forney officiating.  Interment in Meyersdale Union Cemetery.
