Born Jan. 24, 1916 in Somerset County to the late C. Ray and Charlotte (Walker) Boyd. Also preceded in death by his stepmother, Edna Austin Boyd, a brother, Lieutenant John A. Boyd, U.S. Army Air Force, KIA, and a son-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel William H. Lundquist, U.S. Air Force (retired). Survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen M. Boyd; a daughter Carol A. Lundquist of Camp Hill; sons, Gerald and wife, Martha of Mechanicsburg, David and wife, Cheryl of Fredericksburg, Va.; and five grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters, Glenda Keck of North East, Edna Ray Lucas of Cape May Courthouse, N.J., and Rose Knocke of Avalon, N.J. Served from 1941 to 1971 in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Throughout his military career, he served in the radio maintenance and electronics career fields first as an aircraft radio operator during World War II and later in various electronic maintenance superintendent positions. After retirement in 1971 to Camp Hill, he was employed at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot, retiring in 1981. He was a devoted and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, a 50-year Mason member of Wm. S. Snyder Masonic Lodge 756, Tall Cedars, the Harrisburg Consistory where he was active as a cast member in degree work, and the Harrisburg Scottish Rite Club where he served as Hospitiler. As a member of the Zembo Shrine, he was active in the Directors and Ushers units. In addition, he was a member of the Air Force Association and Air Force Sergeants Association. A memorial service was held Jan. 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Camp Hill at 11 a.m. A Masonic memorial service was held Jan. 16 at the Musselman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 324 Hummel Ave. Lemoyne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2000 Chestnut St., Camp Hill or the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital c/o Zembo Temple, 2801 N. Third St., Harrisburg, Pa. 17110. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Daily American, January 19, 2004
