Dale Eugene Boyer, 81, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., formerly of Rural Valley, Pa., died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Bon Secours Hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1917, in Tarentum, Pa., a son of the late Lawrence Wilson and Lucinda Marilla Schreckengost Boyer. On Sept. 25, 1940, in R.D. Chicora, Pa., he married Amelia Grace Hoffman, who survives. He was a graduate of New Kensington High School, Duquesne University and the Lancaster Theological Seminary. He was founding pastor of St. James United Church of Christ in Chatham Village, Pa., and the Market Heights Community Church in Canton, Ohio. He also had full-time pastorates in Somerset County and State College, Pa. He was an educator/counselor for the Pennsylvania Council on Alcohol Problems. During his semi-retirement he provided interim leadership in Penn West Conference. He was an enthusiastic member of the Armstrong County Habitat for Humanity. He was twice a delegate to General Synod, the Uniting Synod in Denver, Colo., and again in St. Louis, Mo. An avid church camper, he served as a director for Dunkirk Conference Grounds, Camps Shadyside, Fernbrook, Mensch Mill, Hartman Center and Living Waters. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Kittanning, Pa. He is also survived by two daughters, Beverly Snowa of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Beth Klukoske of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Bryce and his wife Betsy of State College, and Alan and his wife JoAnne of Clermont, Fla. Five granddaughters: Angela Klukoske Whitmer and her husband Sam of Knoxville, Tenn.; Elizabeth Snowa Lankford and her husband Ronald of Christiansburg, Va.; Jennifer Snowa of Washington, Mo.; Cecelia Cochis of California, and Jennifer Cochis of California. Six grandsons: Bryce William Boyer of State College; Brian Boyer and his wife Tracey of Reedsville, Pa.; Raymond Klukoske of Columbus, Ohio; Skip Boyer of Seattle, Wash.; Justin Cochis of California; and Mike Cochis of Florida. Three great-granddaughters: Caitlyn and Rebecca Boyer of Reedsville and Alicia Cochis of California. One great-grandson, Joshua Cochis of California. A sister, Helen Boyer Himes and her husband Albert of New Kensington, Pa. Three brothers: Wayne and his wife Geraldine of Oxnard, Calif.; Dean and his wife Helen of Natrona Heights; and Donald of Arnold, Pa. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Boyer, who died in 1982. There will be no public visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30, at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 333 N. McKean St., Kittanning, with the Rev. John Snyder officiating. There will also be a half-hour classical organ tribute that will precede the service. No flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity, P.O.
