Boyer, 78, formerly of Meyersdale, died April 1, 1989, of complications from heart surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born October 14, 1910 in Deeter, WV, a son of Ernest and Mary Ollie (Deeter) Boyer. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor L. Bittner Boyer; three sons: Richard, of Zelienople; David, of McCandless and Robert W., of Shaler; and a granddaughter. Also a brother, John, of Cleveland, OH; and two sisters: Elizabeth Lichliter, of Salisbury; and Eleanor Maust, Meyersdale. He was a 1932 graduate of Ashland College in Ashland, OH and held a master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1939. He was a retired assistant superintendent of Shaler schools; member of the Western Pennsylvania Football Officials Association and Eastern Intercollegiate Football Officials Association; past president of the Gridiron Club of Pittsburgh. Friends were received at the Bock Funeral Home Inc., 1500 Mount Royal Blvd., Shaler. Services were held in the Glenshaw Presbyterian Church, Shaler. Interment, Allegheny County Memorial Park.
