"Ike" Bradburn, for years a prominent and well known resident of this community, died April 19 in the Maryland Masonic Home at Cockeysville, Md. He was 90 years old. With a smile always and a cheery hello for all, Ike over the years endeared himself to a host of friends. He had two homes - Meyersdale and the "Georges Creek" area in nearby Maryland, especially in Lonaconing where he was born. In 1907, he founded the Meyersdale Laundry and operated this business until 1952 when he retired. The Laundry was located along Grant Street on its west side near the steps leading to the playground. It was hit several times by disastrous [sic] fires, but was always reopened. Ike became affiliated with the Meyersdale volunteer fire department shortly after locating in Meyersdale and remained a member at the time of his death. He was a life member of that group. He served the fire department for 41 years as treasurer and also served a stint as president. He was a life member of Goodwill Fire Company at Lonaconing, Md. He was also a member of both the Somerset County and the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Associations. Ike was affiliated with these other organizations: the Loyal Order of Moose, Meyersdale; George's Creek Valley AF and AM; and Lonaconing, Md., Republican Club. After his retirement, Ike lived in Meyersdale, then for a time resided with his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Wesley in Cumberland. Later, he went to live at the Maryland Masonic Home in Cockeysville where death came. After leaving Meyersdale, he was a periodic visitor to take part in events such as the Maple Festival, the fair and various activities of the fire department, including the annual banquet which he always rtied to attend. Mr. Mr. Bradburn was born August 8, 1881, in Lonaconing, Md., a son of the late Isaac and Jeannette Muir Bradburn. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Martha Plaskett; a daughter, Mary, and a son, Joseph. Surviving are a son, William, Foster, Ohio, and a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Wesley of Cumberland; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also survivng is a sister, Mrs. Anna Hess of Gaithersburg, Md. Services were conducted in the Price Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Paul Snyder officiating.
