David Brant, 56, of Berlin, died peacefully at home on May 25, 2001. Born Dec. 23, 1944 in Somerset. Son of Josephine (Luteri) Brant of Berlin and the late F. R. "Red" Brant. Survived by his wife of 19 years the former Judith (Thames) Cover; and these children: Karen, married to Duane Schafer and Michael, married to the former Angie Bowman, both of Meyersdale and Joseph, married to the former Amber Prince of Baltimore, Md; a step-daughter Susan, married to James Kimball, Lititz; granddaughters Jessica, Chelsey and Heather Schafer and Hannah Brant. A 1962 graduate of Meyersdale High School. A Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War. He received his Associate of Arts Degree from Allegany Community College, Somerset. He was the postmaster at Garrett and former postmaster at Markleton. Member of Jennerstown United Methodist Church, Berlin American Legion Post 445, Berlin VFW Post 7295 and Garrett Volunteer Fire Department. No viewing or visitation at Dave's request. Military honors by Berlin American Legion, VFW and Somerset County VVA, along with the U.S. Marine Corps.
