Born Aug.16, 1922, in Somerset Township, son of Cyrus Knepper and Nora B. (Sevits) Brant. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Marian Louise Meyers, who died Nov. 3, 1983; brothers, Forrest "Red" and Leo Brant; sisters, June Brant, Marie Salyers, Winifred Baer and Hester Mack. Survived by daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Kathy Louise) Pyle, Mrs. William F. (Lesley Wynn) Smith, all of Somerset; grandchildren, Pamela Dawn King, Johnstown; Patrick Shawn Baker and Eric James Baker, both of Somerset; Kristina Burkholder, Boswell; and Jolene Shaffer, Friedens; great-grandchildren, Justin, Megan, Alec, Jack, Petr, Katrina, Jeremy, Lee, Cooper, Heidi, Josie, Elizabeth and Paige; and great-great-grandson, Owyn; brother and sister, Keith "Shorty" Brant and Frances "Peg" Revello, both of Somerset. A 1940 graduate of Somerset High School, U.S. Army Air corps veteran of World War II where he carried the rank of major. Worked as a power plant operator for the former Somerset State Hospital retiring in 1982. Also a life Member of VFW Post 554 in Somerset and a member of Rockwood Legion Post 279, Berlin Legion and Berlin VFW Post 7295 and the Last Mans Club. He also enjoyed flying, gardening, golfing and loved to ride around the hills of Whitehorse Mountain with his brother, Shorty. No viewing or visitation. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Berlin IOOF Cemetery, Berlin. The speaker Lowell Beal officiating.
