Brant, 38, of Rockwood passed on Aug. 8, 2002 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown. Born Nov. 17, 1963 in Somerset. Son of Delbert "Leon" and Ethel (Brown) Brant of Rockwood. Preceded in death by paternal grandmother Edna Brant and maternal grandparents Melvin and Ruth Brown. Survived by parents, brother Mark married to Shannon (Petenbrink) Brant of Meyersdale and paternal grandfather Homer D. Brant of Rockwood. Also niece Courtney and nephews Cole and Casey Brant. A graduate of Rockwood High School and Frostburg State College, he was a research biologist employed by West Virginia University and did mine reclamation work in the area, including the Casselman Watershed. He was working on his Ph.D. at the time of his death. He was a member of many organizations including the Somerset Aero Club of which he was president and the Corvette Club. He was a former member of the Rockwood Fire Dept. and a contributing member of the New Centerville and Rural Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an active member of the Somerset County Republican Party. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Revs. Mark Bender and Randy Haulk officiating.
