Born May 4, 1918, in Somerset, son of the late Maude Effie (Rose) Brant and Robert Clayton Brant of Somerset. Preceded in death by one brother, Ronald D. Brant. Survived by wife, the former Louise Bowman, and these children: Elbert J. II, married to the former Louise Hay, of Bellevue, Neb.; Mrs. Gerald (Janice) Baumgardner, Somerset RD 5; Timothy R., married to the former Suzan Denner, Friedens RD 2; Mrs. Jeffrey (Suzanne) Gibson, Somerset RD 3; eight grandchildren. Survived by these brothers and sisters: twin brother Elwood R., Berlin; Mrs. Earl (Marguarite) Ogline; Somerset RD 5; Mrs. Nevin (Pauline) Will, Somerset; Orval G., Somerset; Mrs. Fred (Rosaline) Gerhardt, Boulder, Colo.; Donald G., Somerset RD 5. Retired from the H. W. Walker Co. and Beatrice Foods with 44 years of service. Veteran of U.S. Army, World War II and Korean War. Member of Grace United Methodist Church, past commander of the VFW Post 554 and past county commander of the VFW. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., with the Rev.
