Born June 27, 1917, in Somerset Township, the son of George Cessna and Hattie Elizabeth (Berkley) Brant. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Martha Lena Meyers who died April 15, 2003; sons, George Jay Brant and Larry Wayne Brant; brothers, Edward, Lloyd, Emerson, Richard, Earl, Ernest, Guy and Sammy Brant; sisters, Cleo Barclay, Margaret Fisher and Mary Etta Brant. Survived by daughter, Dora Mae Faidley, Markleton; grandsons, Michael D. Faidley, married to the former Lisa J. Pletcher, Rockwood; Daniel R. Faidley, married to the former Jennifer Hall, Inman, S.C.; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Matthew, Mark and Justus. Brother of Jay G. Brant and wife, Charlotte, Dearborn Heights, Mich.; Billy B. Brant and wife, Ruth, Somerset; Ray Brant, Boswell and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Aultz, Listie. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Somerset Church of God and attended Old Bethel Church for the last four years. Worked as a truck driver for Columbia Gas Co. until his retirement in 1979 with 32 years of service. George was an avid hunter and shot his last buck when he was 85. He was a life member of Laurel Ridge Sportsman's Club, where he was formerly a director. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family and great-grandchildren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger- Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service at the church, which will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Old Bethel Church, Markleton.
