Stomach trouble was the cause of his death. He was aged 84 years, 1 month and 2 days, having been born March 12, 1848. He was united in marriage to Hester Holler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Washington Holler, who lived at Bard. Eleven children were born to this union - seven sons and four daughters. Howard, Daniel and Dansel are deceased. The four sons and four daughters surviving are: Harvey, of Greensburg; Jacob, Somerset; Woodrow, Greensburg; Upton, Buffalo Mills; Catherine, wife of George Turner, Buena Vista; Louise, wife of Harry Corley, Bard; Effie, wife of Jeff Downie, Greensburg; Flora, wife of James Elax, also of Greensburg. Mr. Brant was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Brant of Buffalo Mills. His remaining brothers and sisters are Shannon Brant, of Youngwood, Ohio; and Amanda Holler and Maggie Lowry. One sister, Mary, wife of Daniel May, and three brothers, John, William and Josiah, are deceased. Mr. Brant's occupations were farming and lumbering. He was fair and upright and honest in all his dealings. He was of a kind and loving disposition; his friends were many, his enemies were few. He was a soldier in the Civil War and fought in a number of battles and proved a worthy soldier. His great- grandfather's wife was Lizzie Meyers. Her father helped to build Meyers Mills, now Meyersdale. The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon; 160 automobiles, filled with friends and relatives, were in the funeral procession. The church and hall were filled to capacity and half had to remain on the outside. The funeral was one of the largest held in the church for a number of years. Undertaker William Miller of Mann's Choice, had charge of the burial. Rev. Taylor, Methodist pastor at Schellsburg, and Rev. Garner, of Buffalo Mills, conducted the services which were followed by interment in the Dry Ridge Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, April 21, 1932
