    Marilyn "Penny" Brant, 60, West Main Street, Somerset, died April
  28, 1996, in her home.  Born March 20, 1936, in Somerset Township. 
  Daughter of the late Edward J. and Mabel (Williams) Shaffer.  Also
  preceded in death by husband, Leland G. Brant, Nov. 6, 1992; also
  sister, Anna Mae "Polly" Sechler, and brother, Telford M. "Pete"
  Shaffer.  Survived by six sons: Kevin W., married to the former
  Nellie Lowery, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Mark E., Jeffersonville, Ind.;
  John A., Akron, Ohio; Thomas L., at home; Brian L., married to the
  former Heidi May, Berlin, and David M., at home; 9 grandchildren and
  2 brothers, George G. Shaffer, Corona, Calif., and Edward L. Shaffer,
  Jennerstown.  Attended Christ Community of Faith Church.  1954
  graduate of Somerset High School.  Was past officer of Somerset
  Women's Aglow.  Formerly employed at Dress Barn, Horizon Outlet;
  Riverside Market and Brant's Restaurant, Meyersdale.  Friends will be
  received from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Robert H. Halverson Funeral
  Home.  Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beulah United
  Methodist Church, Rev. Keith M. Fink.  Interment, church cemetery. 
  Body will lie in state in church from 10 a.m. until hour of service.
