He was born March 1, 1924, son of the late Scott Brashear and A. Mabel Brashear (Stagle) of Somerset. He attended Somerset High School and graduated in 1941. Received Bachelor of Science degree from Juniata College in 1945, attended Ursina College from 1943-44 as part of Navy V-12 Unit. Attended University of Pennsylvania Medical School, received M.D. 1948. Interned at Pennsylvania Hospital 1948-50. Served as physician in the Navy, Lt. JG assigned to troop carrier Marine Phoenix during the Korean War. Returned to general practice in Beverly, N.J. 1952-57. Residency in psychiatry at Norristown State Hospital 1957-60, subsequently a residency in child psychiatry with Dr. John Rose and Dr. Frederick Allen at the Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, 1960-63. Joined faculty of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Department of Psychiatry, Philadelphia, 1966-1991. Retired 1991. Joined Tabor Children's Services (Philadelphia and Doylestown as medical director, 1991 through 1996. Consultant to the Upper Merion School District and the Child Development Center in Norristown. Life member of the American Psychiatric Association, also belonged to Regional Council of Child Psychiatry and American Academy at Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Married Barbara Ann ( Cooke) Brashear of Newton, June 1946 whom he met at Ursina College. Also survived by three children: Suzanne Brashear Brookes, Pennington, N.J.; Craig D. Brashear, New York., N.Y.; Malcolm S. Brashear, Hong Kong; three grandchildren Hilary Bryne Brashear, Gordon Christopher Brookes, Catherine Suzanne Brookes and one sister, Clara Isobel lifelong interest in music which he shared with wife. Both accomplished singers, they performed programs together throughout the Philadelphia area. They extended this interest to the local Norristown Community through the Octave Club of Norristown of which they were active members. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Norristown Friends Meeting, Box 823, Norristown, Pa. 19404; or Tabor Children's Services, Attention: Ariana Burrows, 601 New Britain Road, Doylestown, Pa. 18901.
