He was born in Salisbury, October 8, 1861. His parents were Ambrose Breig and his mother was Margaret Patton Breig. He spent his boyhood and early manhood in Meyersdale. In 1898 George went to live in Vandergrift where he married Clara McKenzie. He owned and operated an electrical business and specialized in wiring stores and homes. Mr. Breig was a good citizen. He was the first fire chief of Vandergrift. He was an active member of the Catholic Church. He belonged to the Benedict Oblate Third Order. There will be a Solemn Requiem Mass for him in the Church of the Resurrection in Pittsburgh Saturday morning, March 25, at 9 o'clock. His body will then be taken to Vandergrift to be buried. Mr. Breig is survived by his wife, four children and four grandchildren. His children are Sister Regina Clare, the principal of St. Elizabeth Fenton High School; Joseph A. Breig, a columnist for the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph; Regina, the dietitian in the Westmoreland Hospital in Pittsburgh; Robert E. Breig, an accountant in Jeanette, Pa.
