BRENNEMAN Garrett County, Maryland Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Orendorf Brenneman, wife of Noah Brenneman, were held Monday afternoon from the Maple Glen Conservative Amish Mennonite Church. Rev. J. J. Miller officiated and interment was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Irvin J. Yoder, Enos Maust, Irvin E. Yoder, Norman Bender, Floyd Miller and Allen Maust. Mrs. Brenneman, who was 78 years of age, died at her home near here about 7 o'clock Saturday morning after an extended illness. She was born at Cove, Aug. 24, 1862, a daughter of Christian and Lena Beachy Orendorf. She married Mr. Brenneman in January 1898. They had no children of their own, but for about sixteen years operated an Amish Children's Home near here from the time it was founded in 1914 until 1929. The name of "Mamma Brenneman", as she was called is known to hundreds of children throughout this section who found a home there during that time. Mr. and Mrs. Brenneman gave up the management of the home in 1929 and moved to a small house on the same property where they have since resided and the home was closed about a year later. Surviving besides her husband are one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Beitzel, a half- sister, Mrs. Ben Schrock, and a half-brother, Solomon Orendorf, all of near Bittinger. Meyersdale Republican, May 8, 1941
