The quartet of Somerset youths were injured, Brill fatally, when the sedan in which they were riding overturned on a curve a mile north of Rockwood on the Water Level Road early Wednesday morning. Brill was most seriously injured and died without regaining consciousness. Those recuperating in the Somerset Community Hospital are: Robert Menser, 18, of Stoystown Road; Richard Wolfe, 15, of South Franklin Street, and Kenneth Cowher, 18, of West Fairview Street. Physicians described injuries which later caused Brill's death as a possible fracture of the skull, brain concussion, lacerations of the scalp, nose and face. He was unconscious when admitted to the hospital shortly before 2 Wednesday morning and never regained consciousness. Brill was a passenger in the car said to be operated by Robert Menser. Menser was reported to have told police officers his car failed to negotiate a curve, left the highway and overturned several times down the right-side embankment along the highway. Menser suffered a concussion of the brain, lacerations of the left hand and was reported in fair condition at the Somerset Community Hospital Wednesday evening. Richard Wolfe, 15, a second year Somerset High School student, suffered a fracture of the right hip, and contusions and abrasions of the back. His condition was reported as good. The fourth occupant of the car, Kenneth Cowher, an employe of Kosch's Drug Store, escaped with lacerations about the scalp and body bruises. His condition was reported as good. All were confined at the hospital. Early Wednesday evening the three survivors, who escaped death in the badly crushed car, had not been informed of Brill's death, it was said.
