  JONAS BROADWATER
  
    Jonas Broadwater, 101 years, of Swanton, Md., RD 2, died Sunday,
  Oct. 22, 1972, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
    The oldest resident of the area, Mr. Broadwater was born Oct. 10,
  1871, near Avilton, Md., a son of the late William and Hester
  Broadwater.  His wife, Edith, died in 1954.
    In 1911 he built the Broadwater Chapel of the Dunkard Brethren
  Church, were he served as a minister and elder.
    Surviving are two sons, four daughters, 23 grandchildren, 52
  great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
    Funeral service was held Wednesday at the Broadwater Chapel. 
  Interment in Broadwater Cemetery at Savage River.
