The three men went into the mine shortly after noon, Sunday. A water line is being constructed in the mine and a heavy section of pipe became loose and was wedged solidly between the roof of the mine and the motor on which they were riding. The pipe hit Brocht, causing instant death. Opel brought the motor to a stop but too late to save the life of his companion. Brocht is survived by his wife and a daughter.
