Mr. Brocht left his home in Garrett about 5:30 a.m. to walk to his daily toil in the mines in which he lost two sons within the present year. His dead body was found at the upper end of Walker Street, a short distance from his home, shortly after he started on his last trip to the mines. Heart failure is the attributed cause of his death. Grief over the tragic death of his sons is surmised to have been a contributary cause. Mr. Brocht was an old and highly esteemed citizen of Garrett, a hard-working man, who had his full share of life's sorrows and adversities. He is survived by his wife, one son, William Brocht, of New Kensington, and two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth, at home; also one brother, Simon Brocht, of Garrett, and two sisters, Miss Myrtle Brocht of Garrett and Mrs. Maggie Taylor of Somerset. Johnson & Son of Berlin have prepared the body for burial. Funeral services will be held in the Garrett Reformed Church at 2 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, his pastor, Rev. F. D. Witmer, and Rev. Stephan, of Berlin, officiating, followed by burial in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Berlin. Meyersdale Republican, December 10, 1931
