Brocht were shocked to learn of the death of his only son, Jimmy, aged 13, Friday evening, December 21st. The boy had asked permission to go to a friend's home for a little while. About 15 minutes after he left his home neighbors called his parents to tell them that Jimmy, who had taken his sled and coasted down the hill on a little dirt road, had run into the bumper of an approaching car, and had his head crushed. He was rushed to the New Kensington General Hospital but died before receiving medical attention. James, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Brocht, was born in New Kensington, Pa., September 9, 1932. Funeral services were conducted at the Gordon Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. Mr. J. Langley. Jimmy was well known in Garrett, as he had spent many of his vacations at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Henry Brocht on Pine Street. Meyersdale Republican, December 27, 1945
