Brode, 77, of 60 National Highway, LaVale, Maryland, died Nov. 18, 1982 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland. Born in Frostburg, Maryland he was a son of the late Solomon Brode and Kate (Merrill) Brode. He was a retired employee of Allegany Ballistics Laboratory and was a life member of Aerie 1273 FO Eagles. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Catherine (Martin) Brode; four sons, Donald Brode, West Milton, Ohio; Clayton Brode, Colorado Springs, Colo.; James Brode and Stephen Brode, Latrobe; a daughter, Mrs. Dolores Brode, Hayward, Calif.; a stepson, Charles Johnson, Ocala, Fla.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Eileen Akers, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Mary Catherine Grimm, LaVale, Md.; Mrs. Patricia Demaio, College Park and Mrs. Joan Conroy, Ligonier; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Eisel, Frostburg Village Nursing Home; two brothers, Joseph Brode, Berlin; and James Brode, Frostburg, Md.; and a number of grandchildren. Friends were received at the Sowers Funeral Home where services were conducted with the Rev. Robert C. Sharp officiating. Interment was in the Brode Cemetery, Frostburg. Pallbearers were Stanley Eisel, Paul Brode, Edward Conroy, Ronald Grimm, Eugene Williams and Brian Conroy. Frostburg Lodge 1273, FOE, conducted a memorial service at the funeral home.
